Graphic Arts Future: Helsinki

 Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland, November 23 – 24, 2016.

Graphics are like a skin between technology and ourselves. As the role of technology changes, how will the graphic arts change with it? Over the course of this two-day workshop, participants explored the elastic edge of the graphic arts by engaging in experimental image making processes and class discussion. Working with a mixture of new materials (low temperature molding plastic and printable silk) and traditional modes of expression like painting and photography, attendees were asked to stretch the boundaries of their process while hypothesizing about the future role of the graphic arts in our changing world. The workshop culminated with the development of unique image and text content presented on the web and in print form.
