As image culture continues to transform, following the newfound habits of its makers, we often feel overshadowed by the engulfing graphic membrane that we often blindly help construct. “Traditional” static formats such as posters are being replaced with perpetual motion graphics that churn into the wee hours of the day, unconcerned with whether we are looking at them or not. The moving image has forever left its mark on image culture. Shaping how we see our selves, and even how we see. We’re so thankful for those who still engage in this medium outside of the attention economy and the blockbuster boondocks, where the film is used as a tool for experimental expression and documentation of the underrepresented. As we evolve, our films evolve, and these leaps often happen outside of the spotlight, in the underground. Big thanks to the Chicago Underground Film Festival for their ongoing dedication to the unground cinema. Against all odds, they developed a pandemic-proof adventure for the 2020 iteration of the festival and we're honored to a part of it all.
